I have often wondered exactly how old I was when my mother divorced my father. Here is the divorce decree. It is dated January 13, 1945. She divorced him because he was an alcoholic and a very mean one. I remember vividly some of the horrible things he did - pulled a gun on us, beat my mother, whipped me and lots of other stuff. When my mother left him, she brought me to Texas and we lived with my great grandmother.
